Our Models
At Heart + Soul Collective, we have made a deliberate choice not to have an in-house model and photographer team, and there's a good reason behind it. During our initial research on starting an online boutique, we came across advice from several experts suggesting that we hire our own models, photograph all our products on them, and create a brand with a consistent look for our website.
We thought long and hard about this. We looked at a lot of other online boutiques and many of them did exactly this. They each had their own 1-3 models and every product was photographed on these models. And do you know what we noticed? All their product kind of just "ran together". And there was no uniqueness, there was no inclusiveness, there was no diversity!
In that moment, we made a conscious decision to reject this approach for our company. We were determined not to limit ourselves to catering to only a narrow range of looks, body sizes, types, or skin colors. We wanted to showcase a wide variety of individuals that accurately represent our brand. That's why we choose to feature the amazing photos provided by our suppliers. Some of these individuals are professional models, while others are warehouse workers, staff members, or even stay-at-home moms earning extra cash. By doing this, we're able to showcase a diverse range of individuals, which we hope resonates with more women.
At Heart + Soul Collective, our focus isn't on just 1-3 women. It's not about ensuring that each woman perfectly fits our brand image. Our company is about ALL WOMEN, and any woman's photograph that we feature on our website is inherently on-brand, even if they look different from one another. It's our belief that this is what makes us unique and special.
We will do our best to continue to embrace uniqueness to develop a more inclusive and diverse "brand" for our company! ❤️
